GESA Credit Union Sells Naming Rights

In March 2021, GESA Credit Union reached a 10-year, $11 million agreement to rename Martin Stadium after the $4.3 billion credit union.

The 33,000-seat stadium is home to the PAC-12 WSU Cougars. GESA, the second-largest credit union in Washington State behind industry giant Boeing Employees Credit Union, started in 1953 to serve employees of the General Electric Supervisors Association.

On its website, GESA brags that its first receipts were stored in a shoebox. From that humble start to WSU stadium naming rights for $11 million says a lot about where the credit union industry has drifted from its mission.
