New Mexico Credit Unions Take Advantage of Pandemic to Spur Growth

“Never let a good crisis go to waste” is a phrase commonly attributed to Winston Churchill but frequently picked up by politicians and business people over the years. According to a January 2021 investigation by the Albuquerque, N.M. Journal, the state’s credit unions took advantage of the pandemic and related economic crisis to grow their businesses.

Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union announced plans to take over a 55,000 square foot former Wells Fargo location. U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union announced plans to open its tenth branch.  More and more credit union growth fueled by the industry’s failure to pay federal income taxes
